Figuring out how to pay taxes on your Medium writing income

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you but . . .

The money you earn each month through the Medium Partner Program, needs to be reported on your taxes.

The good news is that it recently started so it won’t be that difficult to figure out how much to pay and how to do it.

Paying Taxes is easy yet different for everyone

As I began writing this article I started from my own experience . . . then I realized that was the completely wrong place to start. I consulted my accountant. He annoyingly asked me 25 questions and then said “Ok, I know how we will do this.” I’m certain that he was using a computer program to find out the best way for me to add this income to my taxes. I could not have easily figured it out. My annoyance dissipated when I had a better understanding of the complexity.

So now what?

I really hate the article that promises to deliver one thing and then never does. I could see my “don’t forget” article turning into a article without substance. Each article I write be it on parenting, meditation or taxes, the base of everything is mindfulness. With that as my premise . . . I’m reminding…
