As a hippie mom I have tried to teach cooperation and collaboration. This falls flat sometimes but my goal is to instill in my kids that they are worthy as their birthright. BUT with that come responsibility to honor their own gifts and talents.

Occasionally, I do have a jobs for money list — I announce that it will be available on a certain day BUT you must have your own crap taken care of. Like if the room is trashed then they can’t do jobs for money.

I know this had gone in a completely different direction but as I’m getting ready for a mini road trip the kids are getting together books they want to read and books they want to listen to and experience at the same time!

My oldest kid stopped reading when his middle school didn’t require reading books or have a library. I switched schools for the other kids not homeschooled and they still love reading. Environment is so important!!
