The Dreaded Bra

Maybe it isn’t the bra I dread so much as the comments that I have gotten since that summer I went from flat to full chested. Seriously, one summer and my whole life changed. I was not the girl that boys whispered about . . . or the rude boys just made rude comments for everyone to hear. It wasn’t just the boys at school, it was a home too. All of a sudden me and the girls were no longer safe.

That is a pretty shitty situation for a 13 year old girl. To feel horrible about her body and femininity.

If you are a woman who feels the same way . . . I hear you. I get you. I’m not over being shamed but I hope you are! If you still feel the shame and stigma then we are on the same path.

If you are a guy reading this — keep your boob thoughts in your mind unless the person is asking you a specific question. Start there and see how that goes because your words are crushing, humiliating and can cause a lifetime of hurt. Take responsibility for your thoughts and words.

Dads, teach your sons to keep their thoughts to themselves as well.

The Video

Why a video? I have been making videos for a few years now and I enjoy engaging in that way for some topics . . . my writing can’t express what I can with just a look, a laugh or when I crinkle my entire face. My videos can convey what I sometimes can’t in my writing.

I want you to see me, as a real person, meeting life with mindfulness. It doesn’t matter to me that I don’t have a wardrobe crew, make up or fancy lighting — it’s my message that matters. The person concerned about my level of professionalism is missing my true mission and my purpose.

When the student is ready the teacher will appear.

If you are here . . . I may be the teacher for you. I may not. Only you can make that decision.

Finally, I invite you to sign up for my bi-monthly newsletter at Renee.Love. FYI, there is no sign up bonus, book, checklist, recipe . . . no bait to get you to bite because that’s not how I roll. Sign up because you want to walk this life journey with me. I trust that the right people will find me and we can “walk each other home”.
