Nearly Every Day

I create a Facebook Live video. It began as a way of inviting my friends into a daily mindfulness practice and has evolved into the practice of one of five precepts. It has also evolved past a few friends.

I say nearly every day because I believe in grace and I take the weekends off. Up until now, my life has been full tilt. Non-stop. Take no prisoners. Work until I drop. Picture that, a mindfulness teacher busy 24/7. My life was an oxymoron.

When the ramble=Ah-ha

As I was making this video (4/4/18) it occurred to me that how I pray and extend love, gratitude and hold space for others — needs some help. As I have this ahh ha moment after a ramble, it validates that thinking out loud, being curious, compassionate and vulnerable is the secret to transformation.

I happen to do it now on live video but I think I have always done this in one form or fashion. It is what works for me. Some people journal, some people talk to the bartender, some people never speak a word and keep it in their head — I don’t recommend that. Find a way to express yourself long enough for you to have a moment of clarity. Run, dance, talk to the mirror.
